Friends of the Florence Museum
20th Annual Miniature Art Competition
The Friends of the Florence Museum Miniature Art Competition
began as both a fundraising effort and a way to commemorate
the artistic vision of the museum's founder, Jane Beverly Evans.
As an art student, Miss Jane (she never married) studied
portraiture, in particular, the art of miniature portraits.

In addition to this year's competition, the museum has put on
display an exhibit of art and objects created by and belonging to
Ms. Evans, including oil portraits of her parents and sketches
produced during her travels to Europe and the American
Southwest.
Nov 14 - Dec 21, 2008
The judge for this year's competition was South Carolina artist
William McCullough. Mr. McCullough lives and works in
Williamsburg county and has been a realist painter for over 40
years. He is represented in museums and galleries nationally as
well as in private collections here and abroad.
