The Pee Dee Regional Art Competition is the longest running art competition in the state of South Carolina and is committed to showcasing the best contemporary art in the Pee Dee region. Of approximately 220 submissions, this year’s exhibit is composed of 50 works of art selected by judge, Dave Appleman, retired former Chair of the Art Department at Bob Jones University.
Mr. Appleman, a painter, sculptor, graphic designer and teacher, brought a wide range of experience to the judging process. Beginning September 12, Bob Jones University will be exhibiting a retrospective exhibition of his art, including the painting “Seed Plant”, on loan from the Florence Museum’s permanent collection.
Chick-fil-A has partnered with the Florence Museum since 2000 to underwrite the Pee Dee Regional Art Competition and have also been exhibit sponsors for solo art exhibitions at the Florence Museum. They have shown real a commitment and support of our arts, history and culture in the Pee Dee.
