The Pee Dee Regional is the oldest continuing art competition in the state and is presented by the Florence Museum Board of Trustees and sponsored by Chick-fil-A. The mission of the Pee Dee Regional Art Competition is to highlight the best contemporary art in the eastern region of South Carolina. The exhibit this year is composed of 47 works of art selected from 167 submissions from twelve counties in the Pee Dee Region. Approximately half of this year’s exhibit is comprised of painting and photography, followed by mixed media, drawing, prints and three dimensional works.

Wim Roefs
This year’s judge will be independent curator, art consultant and exhibition designer Wim Roefs, owner of the if ART Gallery in Columbia, S.C. Roefs is the chairman of the board of Columbia’s 701 Center for Contemporary Art and the organization’s volunteer executive director. Roefs is a member of the Art in Transit Advisory Committee (ATAC) of the Charlotte (N.C.) Area Transit System (CATS), supervising the implementation of the light rail system’s public art component. He teaches courses in both contemporary art and African American art at the University of South Carolina Honors College. Roefs was the organizer of Columbia Open Studios 2007 & 2008.
