Presented by the Friends of the Florence Museum
November 18th – December 26th, 2008
The Friends of the Florence Museum Miniature Art Competition began as both a fundraising effort and a way to commemorate the artistic vision of the museum’s founder, Jane Beverly Evans. As an art student, Miss Jane (she never married) studied portraiture, in particular, the art of miniature portraits. In addition to this year’s competition, the museum has put on display an exhibit of art and objects created by and belonging to Miss. Evans, including oil portraits of her parents and sketches produced during her travels to Europe and the American Southwest.
